A family playing in a pool on holiday

Lanzarote With The Kids

Have you got a James Villas holiday in Lanzarote booked with the kids? This beautiful island is dotted with stunning beaches and surrounded by a strikingly scenic landscape, and not only that, it’s also the perfect destination for a holiday with your family. To help you plan the perfect getaway with your children we’ve put together a list of some of the exciting things you can all get up to, from getting soaked at waterparks to racing in go-karts. So, between relaxing by your pool and enjoying delicious local cuisine, be sure to treat your kids to some of these fantastic activities!

Cool off at one of the waterparks!

There are three amazing waterparks in Lanzarote, so no matter which area you plan on staying in, you’re likely to be only a stone’s throw away from the nearest one. Two of the parks are located in the southern part of Lanzarote, in Playa Blanca. Aqualava is the larger of the two, and with a variety of pools to splash around in, as well as exciting rides, it’s a great place to visit on a warm day. From enjoying a lazy ride on the Magma River to having a blast at Cosario Bay in the children’s water castle, there’s never a dull moment.

If you fancy somewhere different, but still in the Playa Blanca area, why not give Dino Park a go? You and your kids will get to race each other down the tunnel rides, as well speeding through the whirls and twists of the other fantastic rides.

The third waterpark is Aqua Park Costa Teguise, which is located on the east coast of the island. As well as having a whale of a time in the various fun-packed water rides at the park, your kids will also get to race around on mini quad bikes, too.

For your little animal lovers

If your kids love nothing more than a visit to the zoo, then they’re bound to love a trip to the Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park. One of the many highlights of a visit here is the incredibly entertaining wildlife shows, where sea lions and exotic birds are asked to perform tricks for you and other guests. On top of the animal shows, you can all look forward to a real-life cowboy show, where a cowboy will showcase his lasso and whip skills. Even better than that, your kids can also get involved by trying out the lasso for themselves!

After a day of animal fun, exploring the reptiles and mammals of the park, take the time to enjoy a family meal and barbecue at the Wild Horse Saloon. This restaurant really will make you all feel as if you’ve travelled back in time to the Wild West!

Hit the road!

Can you see the Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton in your kids? If so, why not take them to the Go Karting track in San Bartome, on the east coast of Lanzarote, for a fun day out. Your kids can wind around the track, taking in the spectacular mountainous landscape of the island as they whizz past you.

Alas, don’t worry, you can get involved too, and there’s even a special over-16 race track that has been recently restored – perfect if you’re a fan of the Formula One races!

After all that fun and excitement, you’ll be in need of a little peace and quiet, whether it be whiling away the evening beside the pool, or enjoying a family supper in your villa’s kitchen.
